Dahlia Sanitary Measures & Plant Health

At Summer Rain Farm, we take plant health seriously. We follow careful sanitation practices throughout the growing season and while preparing dahlia tubers for sale to help reduce the risk of spreading viruses, fungal diseases and other pathogens.

Cutting tools are cleaned and sanitized regularly when working between plants and varieties.
Tubers are carefully inspected during digging and dividing, and any tubers showing sighs of disease, rot, or poor health are discarded.
Each variety is kept separate and clearly labelled thoughout the digging, dividing and storage process.
Clean containers and storage materials are used for prepared tubers.
Only healthy, vigorous tubers with at least one viable eye are selected for sale.

While we take every reasonable precaution, no dahlia can be guaranteed to be completely virus-free, as some viruses can be present without visible symptoms. Our goal is to provide you with healthy, high-quality planting material while following responsible sanithation and plant-health practices here at the farm.
