Summer Solstice at Summer Rain Farm
June 21 is summer solstice here in southern Ontario. It's the day of longest daylight hours and the first day of summer. The weather has been quite flighty this year with hot days, then cold days but we should start seeing the warmer days settle in and get everything growing well.
We also got to celebrate Father's Day this year on this day. To my husband and the father of my four children, you are the best! Fatherhood is a job he doesn't take lightly, teaching, guiding and of course playing has been a large part of his life. He continues to enjoy these traits with his grandson.

The gardens are doing well, in just a few days the snapdragons and yarrow should be blooming. The strawflowers and cosmos are not far behind. We have enjoyed the peonies and ranunculus but their time is ended. Thee are a few dahlias even budding up already which I am excited to see.
Soon school is out and our grandson will join us during the week to help out with chores, feeding animals, weeding and harvesting from the gardens and mostly to swim in the pool. He is only five!
Our farm stand is on hiatus this season as the road is closed by our house. We still take orders by website, Facebook or email. We have added buckets of blooms to our sales page for the DYI event. Keep that in mind the next celebration you might have.
